Tarlac State University Center for Food Technology and Research (CFTR) inked a partnership with three MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) opening its facilities to cater toll processing activities on September 17, 2026 at the Office of the University President.
The three MSMEs, namely Mayantoc Bakir Farmers Association, Good Potion Food Products, RKM Food Products Manufacturing and Sauces, are set to undergo toll processing activities following the Food Safety Act of 2013, Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and other national standards that suits the toll processing operations.
Leading the signing were University President Dr. Jasper Jay N. Mendoza and Vice President for Research, Innovation and Extension Dr. Niño B. Corpuz together with the industry representatives.
These three forged partnerships fall under the TSU DALAN framework – Pangkabuhayan and Pakikipag-ugnayan.
CFTR operates an FDA-Licensed Food Manufacturing Facility that allows MSMEs to produce their products while acquiring technical and research guidance from the food technology team.
The center continues to commit to reaching more MSMEs, farmer’s organizations, cooperatives, local government units, academic institutions and stakeholders in the food industry by integrating research, extension, technical assistance, and shared facility services.
Beyond technology development, CFTR seeks to create meaningful community impact by helping its partners adopt and validate technologies, meet regulatory requirements, and eventually commercialize their products.
Ms. Cynthia Chuidian, representative of the Mayantoc Bakir Farmers Association, said she entrusts their red, black and glutinous rice to the center and will rely on the expertise of the food technology team.
Also present during the MOA signing are CFTR Director Dr. Lea B. Milan, Production and Technical Advisory Division and Pilot Processing Plant Head Engr. Dick S. Tuazon, Mr. Marlon Guimba, Good Potion Food Products representative, and Mr. Julius Caeser Gutierrez, RKM Food Products Manufacturing and Sauces representative.
